My corsa b has just failed MOT on a cracked rear axle. I realise that a repair would probably exceed the value of the car but I just wondered if anyone could tell me how big a job it is and around how much is it likely to cost?

Depends on the Crack Damage & where on the axle the crack is, If it's central, it will be straight forward after cleaning for the weld, it would be a bigger job to drop, and replace the Axle, when you come to think of the removal of the Brake Pipes, cables, +, where about is the crack, have you been quoted? have you looked around for prices?

Thanks for your advice. been to local garage to have a look and axle is badly corroded as well which apparently is a common problem on the corsa b - so it's replace axle or scrap the vehicle and as it has a couple of other problems the best option may be to let it go.
