more to the point why would he punch her, a thug in a uniform
It says she and her boyfriend had been in an argument with the guard and her fella was being escorted from the premises. A lot more to this than it first appears. She was also in the hospital in the first place because she 'banged her head in the pub'.
for some, the weed transcends everything, even though it may import risk to a particular activity - this is all too common....

How do you know what she is saying is true, emmie?
I agree with Daffy, more to this than meets the eye.

I hold an SIA Licence, a year or three back I was asked to do some holiday cover at 'East Kent Hospitals' I stayed on for a few weeks after the holiday period 'cause they were short-staffed.
The shift pattern was 6 on, 3 off on N/S. If you weren't physically attacked at least once on 5 out of 6 shifts there was something wrong, I've covered a few security placements over the years, A & E is definitely the worst!
So the smoking was not exactly the immediate cause of the "disfigurement" ...
I think the real danger for smokers is hearing damage from all the non smokers whingeing on and on and on and on and ...
could be, though why would they suspend the bloke...
From the reports, it seems to show that the Security Guard lamped the woman.
That is why he has been suspended.

What is less clear is exactly what he was having to deal with at the time he did so.
might be standard procedure when a complaint is made till they check out the cctv

from the article emmie

> It is understood the incident was captured by hospital CCTV cameras and the security guard has been suspended. <

Great point,JJ.
DF, i did read it, it just seems as though everyone thinks there is more to the story...
[i]So the smoking was not exactly the immediate cause of the "disfigurement" [i]

It attracted the wrong sort of man.
There's no reason to punch her in the face, no matter what they were arguing about.
i can just see how this happened
1) she was pissed, and had already been in a fight in the pub
2) standing outside smoking, asked to move on by the security guard (all hospitals + grounds are smoke free now)
3) she got lippy, handsy probably spat at him
4) he tries to physically remove her and she falls over

the way i read the article - all her fault!

Black_cat, you missed this bit out of the story,

///It is understood hospital bosses have been told Julie and her boyfriend had been involved in an argument with the guard who was escorting the man from the premises.////

it says 'punched' which sounds like the once but she looks like shes been punched a few times
