I was watching "The Waltons at 30" last evening and missed so much of the conversations due to the background music so loud.

I do wish they could tone it down a bit and allow the voices to be heard.

I think there should be a button on the remote that mutes the background music but leaves the talking voices unaffected.

It's happening more and more with a lot of the programs. Very annoying.
Agree with that, cupotee gawd, I can't believe the Waltons are 30 !, have also noticed how loud some adverts are compared to the tv program that you maybe watching.
I didn't see it but understand what you mean the loud background and so called dramatic music is spoiling most programmes I wish the Producers etc would watch their programmes and then realise how awful the music is, it is dreadful on the Crime Channels almost impossible to watch!!

Maybe we should gang up on the program makers!!

If I turn the sound up to hear the voices so the blooming music is louder too.

If I didn't put the subtitles on I wouldn't know what was going on!

I watched it and didn't notice any background music. It did make me feel very old, though.
This really aggravates me too.
Maybe TVs need two volume controls, one for foreground sounds, the other for background sounds.

Wonder if some computational filtering could identify and separate them ?
The most annoying is the constant "drumming" on the BBC News. My finger is always poised on the mute button.
