just been told that powdered garlic in a dogs food will keep fleas at bay. Anyone heard of this?.

heard of it, I don't think it works and too much garlic is bad for dogs (affects production of red blood cells) How much is too much? it depends on the size of the dog,
Yes, I've heard that giving a dog garlic in powder of tablet form will keep fleas at bay. Haven't tried it though.
As woofgang said, garlic can be bad for both cats and dogs and should be avoided really.
I never knew they charged you for keeping dog fleas ! Gawd they'll tax anything these days won't they.
when I lived abroad I used to feed all my dogs huge, huge amounts of fresh garlic in the belief it helped keep ticks and fleas away - years later I learned the onion family was supposed to be bad for dogs. Mine seemed okay though.
Garlic tablets or powder sprinkled on their food in small amounts is ok and will deter fleas but won't kill any they have on them already.
