I`m looking for a nice place with sea views for lunch on the S Coast - Sussex(ish). About 1.5 hrs from SW London. Last time I asked, someone recommended the East Beach Cafe at Littlehampton and I have been there several times since. So somewhere like that would be good.

lovely place, might be a bit far if you are going on public transport, but well worth a visit at some point.

beautiful harbour, and lovely little village, few arty shops, lovely church, and a couple of decent pubs, one i have listed -
Badgers Watch on the coast road at Saltdean between Brighton and Peacehaven.Good car park. Great food and selection of beers wines etc.Reasonably priced.Has picnic tables on clifftop at rear overlooking the sea where your food can be served and eaten on a fine day.Oldie Worldie interior .A pub/restaurant with loads of character.

Thanks. Both of those look good. Emmie - did you see the horrible review that someone left on that link? It`s obvious it was put there by a rival pub. Retrocop - incidently, the Badgers Watch is now The Smugglers Rest.
not on the sea but overlooking the river arun, how about the black rabbit at Arundel?

altho', i'm told it fills up with the great and the good from Ford open prison.... :-)
I was'nt aware that there had been a name change.I used to take my mother there when she lived in Peacehaven.I have'nt been there for some time since my mother died.I hope it still maintains the standards it had under the original name.I remember we both ordered a ploughmans platter on a fine sunny day to eat on the picnic tables at the rear. Each of us got a wedge of cheese the size of a half brick. My mother ate some with the rest of her platter and took the rest of the cheese home with her.It lasted her for the week.Happy days!!
