Can anyone suggest the best treatment for getting rid of blanket weed in a small pond. I have been using the old trick of twisting it round a stick but would like to get rid of it altogether.

plant more plants, loads of them, especially the kinds that spread over the surface of the pond.

Thank you woofgang
Barley straw is pretty good if it's being persistent. You can get little bundles of it from anywhere that sells pond stuff or I use the liquid extract http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=1288&pf_id=53846&utm_source=ShoppingFeed&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CPrA-5HE2L0CFanjwgodoqMANA

Thanks ratty2E I will certainly try that
You get blanket weed because there is too much nitrate in your pond causing an imbalance. Not helped if the pond is in full sunlight.

Plants will use up the nitrates and barleystraw will help so the advice is good. You may not be able to eradicate it fully if the pond is small and shallow.
