Hello Chaps - in CB for visibility.

Good Old FB has been messing around again.

I'm not going down the "Change it back or I'll leave, you Barstewards" route - they can do what they want - it's a free product - but it is (for me) useful for keeping in touch with some people.

Soooo - has anyone worked out how to:

1. Default the News Feed to 'latest' - I can change it easily enough (or go in through a bookmarked url with /?sk=h_chr on the end), but it keeps sliding back to the annoying 'Top Stories'.

2. Get *all* posts from *all* friends showing - FB seems to be applying some sort of "we think you'd like" filter

3. Get *all* posts from 'Liked' pages showing - if someone is posting too much stuff then I'm quite capable of turning it off myself - I don't need nanny FB second guessing me.

As I say - I'm not interested in a debate about the usefulness of FB, or comments of the "FB is Evil" type, or the usual "like it or leave" advice - just any practical tips on improving my use of the product.

Ta Muchly

I'll do my best to help you Dave,...just bear with me a mo....;) x
I'll be interested in the answers to this, one of the pages I 'like' is a local community page and it's a mine of info that I like to hear about, at the moment I have to constantly look at their wall to see what's going on or subscribe to every bit of activity (which I don't want), I just want to see the posts as they post them.
1.As far as your news feed goes, I have not found a way to get it to default to latest news rather than "top news stories". All you can do is to check on the News Feed tab and make sure it is set to latest stories every so often.

2. All posts from All friends. Not sure quite what you mean by this. I have, for instance, designated several of my friends as acquaintances, and set the preferences on my newsfeed posts to exhibit my messages only to my friends - not the general public or those designated as acquaintances - could this explain what you have seen?

3.Don't know about this one. As far as I know, I see all the posts from pages i have liked - But I have not performed any checks to see if I am receiving all the posts- how do you know you aren't?
Ok,.....Newsfeed is easy.....there's a drop down arrow to the right of Newsfeed option on left of your page where you can choose to set it to either Top Stories ir Most Recent.

As for the posts by friends,....there's a way of setting preferences on each individual person, but I'm beggared if I can remember how to do it now.

Re all posts from liked pages,....think you've gotta go to Page itself to set that.

Bit vague, I know, but hope that helps a bit. If not,...there's always FB's Help Centre ;)

Thanks LG

1. Yep - that's the best I have found so far

2. I have noticed that FB doesn't show all posts from some of my friends - especially ones who I don't 'interact' with very often - I seem to be able to to trick it into resuming a complete feed from someone by 'liking' a post on their page, but that requires me to have noticed that not everything is coming through. I've checked with a couple & it's not the 'acquaintances' thing - they also were missing some of my stuff until we 'interacted'.

3. Seems very odd - but (as Rocky says) some pages just don't get all their posts published to all 'likers' - irritating.

Thanks Bathsheba - the problem with the 'drop down' is it resets every time you close your FB tab - which it hadn't used to.

I'll have a look at one of my errant 'liked pages' and see if I can fix it there.

Ta.
re Friends updates...click on Friends on left hand side of your page, then an option of Manage List appears,....you can choose what type of updates you see from that x
