Sounds very expensive to me- unless it's a very expensive TV. I stopped taking out insurance for TVs, laptops, washers, cookers, phones etc years ago as they seem so well made
How long is your original TV Guarantee for ??
Most if not all of the top brands have 5 Year Guarantees now.
I would not bother with that offer Dee Sa, you could buy a good 2nd hand TV for that price.

thank you both I had had a run of bad luck re appliances lately and have replaced the washing machine, had a new element for the 13month old cooker and then the thermostat went, next the microwave blew up and same week the Dyson hand held vac gave up the ghost, woe is me ,none had insurance, but I also thought £74 was steep for an ordinary LG lcd tv.
Looking at your avatar, I think you are going through a bad spell! ;-)
That does seem a lot but there again you've had bad luck. I only have insurance for washing machine now. Do TV repair men even exist anymore?
You are aware that General & Domestic are owned by the white good manufacturers?
Oh no they are not - nor have they ever been. They are currently owned by private equity firm CVC.
Not that it changes the price of fish - these policies are poor value for money - which is why a private equity firm is so eager to snap it up. Made gross earnings of about £80m on a turnover of £600m in 2013. Have a guess where the underlying profit comes from?
No it is a crap deal
I ahve let my D + G insurances all lapse
