I have received a letter from a firm called Pain and Mobility introducing a pen like object called Pain Gone which will relieve me from arthritic and knee pain. Has anyone tried this and would they recommend it or is it just another scam for us oldies?

It's likely to be a scam. If something like this worked wouldn't it be available on the NHS?
Some years ago an uncle of mine was talked into buying a similar though not sure from which company. It was rubbish and regretted spending the large amount of money on it. I think sandy is right, surely the NHS would have something similar that would help but as it is I've never heard of any good relief from arthritic pain apart from tablets and even then they don't always work. I personally wouldn't waste my money.
From your description it may be a form of TENS machine (which didn't impress me when I tried one).
Take the advert to your GP and ask his opinion......
Found this.

been and had a look. If you think something like this might help, I'd go for a real TENS machine, having to click the thing 30 to 40 time to get relief doesn't sound very practical. Amazon reviews very mixed.

Thanks everyone. After all your advice I think I'll give it a miss.
If you are really interested, the results of a small clinical trial within the NHS were carried out at the Royal Gwent Hospital.

Description of trial and results here;

Very small trial, not double blinded or randomised but conclusions seems to suggest no benefit beyond placebo.
