I had some bread in a restaurant the other day and it came with balsamic vinegar/oil and a garlic butter.

How would I make the garlic butter? It had little bits of herbs in it but I have no idea what they were.

Thanks.

I'd use a couple of cloves of garlic that have been crushed with 50g butter and a teaspoon of very finely chopped parsley. Leave the butter out to et to room temp and soft and mash every thing together with a fork.

Mrs c is strange she loves chicken and loves garlic butter but hates Chicken Kiev!!
Actually a broiler is the part of an oven that you turn on to heat from the top only. Here (and I excepct there as well), an oven can be turned on to bake, let's say... in that case only the bottom burner inside the oven actually turns on whereas, the broil setting turns on only the top of the oven burner directing the heat straight down. One puts the Texas Toast bread, buttered with the heretofore explained garlic butter, on the top most rack. Watch it carefully since it tends to brown quickly and just as quickly becomes burnt (burned?). Thanks for your patience for a Colonist trying to draw a word picture... it's just not a grill...
I was being simplistic of course, and not in the least putting down any difference in terms.
they have butter in boxes in America? what's up with paper wrappers?

and nicely done by your husband too

^ was for mamya

don't worry Clanad, we get by with one of these - I pine for an oven..;)
