Some stunning photos of the great Miss Day, one of my favourite films which she appeared in with Kirk Douglas was 'Young Man with a Horn' (photo 07) which incidentally was changed to 'Young Man of Music' for some strange reason.

The 'horn' or 'trumpet' was actually played by the late great Harry James, Kirk Douglas is fortunately also still with us aged 97.

wonderful singer, actress, always thought she was multi talented.

by the way, it may not be the reason, but horn used to be term for an er male upstanding member, if you get my drift, at least it was once,
- rather lowers the tone x
My favourite female film star when I was a youngster. The very first time I was allowed out in the evening to the cinema was to see her in Calamity Jane. My schoolfriend and I thought we were so grown up and loved the film.

As I said earlier; It's Magic!
Loved the films she was in with James Garner and Rock Hudson.
So did I, marje, used to watch them with my mom.
Someone once asked one of her oldest friends about her (I forget who it was) and he replied 'I knew her before she was a Virgin'

She was good in Calamity Jane. Thought she had the most gorgeous smile.
Confess. From 1947.

One of her lesser known recordings, but a personal favourite of mine

sorry wrong thread.
Good actress and singer, I really loved her singing Secret Love, and Que Sera got me through a few boyfriend troubles, in fact I still sing that (to myself) when I'm feeling down. Kirk Douglas was always very fit and macho, he'll make 100.
LOL at sp18! Thank's aog, I'd like to buy some of her films now! Loved looking through the b& w pics!
Luise Rainer won best actress oscars in 1936 and 1937 - born 1910, still going strong. But you don't see her films around much these days.
