I have windows 7 and have been having a lot of trouble with firefox, it seems a LITTLE bit better now but every time I log on the User Account Control opens to ask 'do you want Firefox to make changes to this computer', it never used to do this so how can I turn it off please, if that is advisable of course? -rosy

You can turn off UAC by clicking Start\Contol Panel\User Accounts\change UAC (bottom of list in main pane) although obviously MS advise you not to. I have had it turned off since I got this PC (2010) and have never had any problems. Along with various other annoying bits of Windows OS most Windows buffs will tell you that it is MS attempting to prevent people with no know-how from mucking up their OS, possibly nescessitating a re-install.
