1. Where does Ronnie O'Sullivan rank compared with the likes of Steve Davis , Steven Hendry , in your opinion ?

2. In a game in the final , the pink spot was unavailable , as was all the other spots , so the referee placed the pink ball behind the green ball which was on it's spot .
Is there a particular reason for that , as opposed to placing it behind any other colour spot ?

3. In the tournament , in a game , there was discussion by the commentators with respect to a spot marked with an x on the table .
What was that about ? ( i only caught the end bit of the discussion )

right , that's that then .

I'm an amateur watcher of teh game , so to speak .

By that i mean that i sometimes know what the next shot is going to be ; when it's very obvious .

How many of you can say what , the next shot is going to be / how it should be played / what cushion the player should come off / what spin should be put on the ball / how the ball should be played for the next shot etc etc .?

i.e. are you as technically knowlegeable as the commentators ?

Ronnie O'Sullivan has much more natural talent than Davis or Hendry and if his head wasn't so messed up with personal problems he would've won many more titles.

I used to play snooker in my teens and my highest break was a 60 clearance which I am still proud of to this day!

I have a rough idea what shots players are going for and where the white will end up but have never sussed out how they can think 3 shots ahead

I think I've had enough practice at the game to have some idea of plans and would shot might be played -- but there is often a choice of shots available and when that's the case I invariably pick the wrong one, if I pick at all. Usually more interested in watching than in thinking about what I'd play. It's all very seeing the shot, but you have to be able to play it as well!

Used to be able to do so, jim - played representative amateur and a founder of the Belgian snooker league.... it's practice though, like most things, assuming there is some basic technique like keeping the head down and striking through the ball. John Higgins used to have fabulous technique but I have noticed that he is popping his head upwards much sooner than he used to.
