Running Windows XP and the mail is bt yahoo. At present, I receive an email in the inbox and send a reply but the reply only appears under 'sent'. How do I arrange matters so I can read the original and the repiy on the same page and the whole correspondence can be read in sequence in the one place?

Well it can already be read all in one place - in your sent items. If you then a get a reply and a chain starts you will read all it in your inbox.
You can of course send the 'sent' e-mail back to yourself and then it will appear in your inbox.
How do you pick up your emails, direct from webmail or using an email software program on your pc?
pressed submit too early!

If using an email software ie Outlook or similar, then there is an option to include original text in your reply.
not really an answer but you could switch to gmail, where as long as the original is in your inbox all the replies (and your own subsequent ones) will appear with it, though for purposes of saving space you have to click on an "expand all" icon.

I presume you are actually replying by clicking on "reply", not sending a whole new email?
I don't understand, Fred - my Sent replies (with all the chain before them) only ever appear in my Sent email box, where would you expect to see them?
