We're having friends round for dinner on Thursday, an annual event very much looked forward to by all. We're going to cook a lovely fillet on the BBQ (we're not eating outdoors though), and I'd love to hear any ideas on what to serve with it. All suggestions gratefully received:-)

Thanks

Mick, I have to disagree with your comment about fillet being tasteless. We buy Welsh Black Fillet and it is gorgeous.
What are you planning on serving for a sweet horseshoes?

I'm doing a lemon cake made with the limoncello I brought home from Sorrento!
Sounds delish. Nice and light.

I've done a trial run! Mmmmm
I agree with Mick. Fillet is the most tasteless.
except horseshoes is having fillet steak, presumably because she likes fillet steak

sauteed mushrooms and shallots, with or without garlic to taste, light seasoning of salt, black pepper and a grate of nutmeg, splash of cognac and some cream or creme fraiche warmed through

Chips
I'd do a Diane sauce as well.

Shallots, mushrooms, garlic, mustard, brandy, cream.
Blimey we have some gourmets here.

I was gonna say there are some wunnderful sauces at Lidl's.
let the steak be the highlight (as it should).
Go simple, jacket potatoes, salad with a dressing. I like the chimichurri sauce idea from eccles. I love corn on the cob straight off the BBQ.
