You know my plantar fasciitis is causing me real pain at the moment. Saw consultant last week and I have to go back tomorrow as she says I have to have the injection in each heel. ( She couldnt believe I hadnt been offered it before). Anyway, she said to bring somebody so I could squeeze their hand it it will be very painful. Great! Soooo, it is really going to be that bad??

Sorry for spelling. My letter 'o' has decided not to work unless i really bash it!
I've had this done twice for PF, first time I nearly hit the doctor and had not lasting effect but the second time I barely felt it and it worked for a while too.

The only difference? The first was done by a GP and the second was done at a podiatry clinic. I do feel for you, I've had PF for going on years now, it's constant but has flare ups too.... Oh well it takes my mind of the back pain lol

Awww, you never know, if it's a consultant who does this all the time, maybe they may have a less painful way of doing things.

I've not had my heels done but had injections deep into both hips and shoulders. It wasn't a quick process either time (both had staff training/observing) though interesting to listen too. They used a numbing spray and I think put some anaesthetic in with the injection too. I do have quite a high pain threshold but all of them were fine.

I was bracing myself with my first hip one, especially when my consultant said I could shout, scream, swear, just not move! Both hip ones were fine, they even went right in down to the bone (and I have not so insignificant hips!).

Might be an idea to have a back up plan in case you are advised not to walk on them afterwards. I didn't realise with my hips until they said that due to the anaesthetic did I have anyone to take me home. Errrrr, no! I was wheelchaired to the taxi phone.

I thought my shoulders were going to be really painful after hearing my mum's tales of the ones she had. Hardly felt them.

Hope it goes well tomorrow x
I had one of those - it hurt when the needle went in, but only for half a second. By the time I stopped saying OUCH it had stopped hurting. So it may not be too bad. Good luck!
it wont be as painful as having the plantar fasciitis

so hold onto yourself and OH and have the treatment.

and good luck.

I was going to drive to the hospital but on 2nd thought i am going to get a cab.The cosultant who is ding the injections actually suffers from PF herself so at least she knows how it feels.
how did it go?

Well it bloody hurt, but not as bad as I expected. Mind you, the consultant sad my PF is as bad as she has ever seen so maybe thats why - ive in so much pain that the injection didnt seem so bad x
ah, glad you've pulled through. It should work quickly if it hasn't done so already.
So pleased it went well! Hope you feel the benefit soon. x
Glad it wasn't too bad smowball. I had pf but never had to have an injection but remember how painful it was.
