let's be honest here - would that really be such a bad thing?

in my experience, this catering chain is staffed entirely by bored teenagers who can't cook and hate their customers with a passion.

Yeah, I remember them, Hopkirk.
Mmmm, lovely. I too would put my fingers down my throat after eating a Little Chef/'Happy Eater'.
I remember the Happy Eaters,we used to go to one on somewhere in Hampshire that had been opened by Princess Pushy (forgotten her title) we always imagined her at breakfast,"and what are your plans for today" "I'm opening a Happy Eater"
Little Chef comes from another era, when many long journeys were made on traffic clogged A roads, and before the onslaught of fast food 'restaurants'

They haven't got a chance of surviving these days.
I've just realised, I got confused. I thought Little Chef was 'Wimpy'. Is that not the same thing?
No, but both try to offer waiter service.
Try? What do you mean 'try'? Surely they either do or they don't?
No he means try I assure you.
Lol. Oh! I see :)
Many years ago we would stop at little chef on our way to Morpeth. I found the service excellent and the food good. It can't be only me.
"It can't be only me."

Seems so!
Last time I went the cups and cutlery were filthy.
No Jeza, you're not entirely alone, they were places to stop off at on the way to/from the ferry for us, usually for breakfast. They seemed to be reasonable value but then became very expensive for what they served. We always found the staff pleasant enough, once I commented that the coffee was too weak, so I was taken over to the counter to put enough coffee into my cafetiere, then I wasn't even charged for it.
I haven't been to KFC in ages... it's now on my to-do list. I did used to enjoy it.
Way back in the Sixties and early Seventies they were usually excellent (there were a few exceptions) but they declined after several merger/takeover activities ruined them.
Jim, enjoy your KFC....

Jim360, I refer you to Ratters post 22:22 and this video.

MadMen, I was just about to post the same link, horrendous

I used to love KFC until I saw this...now I will never, ever, go anywhere near them
The Little Chef on the northbound A9 (yup, the 'killer road') changed to 'Oliver's Grill and Diner' a few months ago.
Norralorra cars in the car park any time I pass, looks alright though.
Mass, put me right off. Disgusting.

Best off sticking with home made.

We have a Little Chef not far from us.it has improved no end in the last 4 or 5 years and the staff are always really helpful and friendly. We've been known to call in for scrambled eggs and coffee on an occasional weekend lunchtime and will be disappointed if it becomes either MacDonalds or KFC. We'll won't be going to either of them for our brunch or any other meal come to that.
