/// 'Any person carrying a firearm or weapon on the street can expect to be confronted by armed patrols who will search them, arrest them and prosecute them. ///

/// 'We understand that there will be a number of law-abiding citizens who will be affected by this action. ///

That must mean 'Random' searches.

/// 'We hope that they will understand that this action is being taken to keep them and their loved ones safe and they will agree with us that this level of criminality will not be tolerated. ///

Incidentally you can all relax, the suspected gunman is reported as being white, sorry to spoil your fun.

I am at a loss.

I will state again...the police do carry out random stop and searches.

They do it now. Not in the past. But now.

What's confusing you?
AOG

If the police currently carry out random stop and searches, why do you ask whether they will be carrying out random stop and searches?

Why not look up 'police stop and search statistics' before posting on AB?
*Incidentally you can all relax, the suspected gunman is reported as being white, sorry to spoil your fun. *

bet that killed ya lol

/// I ask whether ,if white on white murders occurred in your area, would you be happy if white people were being stopped simply because they were white and the suspects were white? ///

Yes completely why not, if it helped to catch the guilty ones more quickly than waiting for the 'community' to come forward with their help.

The police would be lacking in their duty if they did not do so, I have no problem whatsoever with that.

/// What if the suspect was of your age? Are the police to stop anyone in the area simply because they are white and of your age? That's what the complaint is about. ///

It happened, once the police who must have been looking for a criminal who happened to drive the same type car as the one I was driving, they stopped me, asked me what the licence number of my car was, where I had come from, where I was going, and asked me to produce my documents.

They thanked me for my help, apologised for any inconvenience caused, and I went on my way, I did not have a problem over that also.

I think there are many who would wish we did not have a police service, unless of course they themselves actually needed them, the same can be said for the Armed Forces.

/// Mental. ///

Yes I think they are.

That's one of the problems AOG, certain groups do complain like hell, hence why police officers only submit the search forms for certain groups and hence the stats are not any way accurate of what really goes on.
