Seeing as its too painful to run at the min with the tendonitis etc, ive decided to try swimming. Havent done any properly for ages but I did 25 lengths of breaststroke, which I thoroughly enjoyed.I'm asuming that if I do this 3/4 times a week then i should start to see any benefits fairly soon ie healthwise or even just toning up a little bit?

''do you swim in a.......two piece or one piece?''

Not a hair piece then like yourself?

LOL. I actually never wear one pieces as they squash my, ahem, rather large chest. So I ended up wearing a black polka dot bikini, lol.
That will do nicely.

Ooh you are naughty,but I like it : )

Would rather be swimming in a hot pool or the sea rather than my local leisure centre with bl00dy freezing changing rooms!
Swimming's great! Tones your muscles and keeps you fit. I swim a lot. Love it!
Swimming is great and if you do it that often you'll be fit as a fiddle in a week :)

I'm impressed you could do 25 lengths after none for a while. I struggled with 4 when I started again.

Hello ladies : )

Actually, havent swam at all for 2 years. After just 2 lengths I felt I'd had enough but just plodded on and then seemed to be ok.
Our local leisure centre is doing a monthly gym'n'swim pass for just £20 a month unlimited, including all the aqua classes.
Blimey! That's excellent value! Go for it!

Yep i thought so, Ive signed up already. I wont use the gym, not yet anyway, but swimming is no pressure on the poor tootsies!
I really enjoy swimming Smow....its one of the few forms of exercise that comes quite easy to me!...(my bikini's polka dot too but blue/white!) :)
I go swimming nearly everyday (started this about 2 years ago) and feel so much better for it, definatly helped me tone up my hip, thighs and buttocks, and my upper body to, did nothing for my belly though :(
the only problem with our pool is getting the timing right for when its quiet!
We have three lanes (slow, medium and fast) not everybody swims at the same speed and if people were a bit more courteous, If someone is faster than me then i always let them pass, or if someone lets me pass then i make sure i say thank you! (moan over)

Great minds hey ellesbells ; )

Think I will definitely keep it going, may try going earlier in the day though.

MrIncredible - I know what you mean, as its school holidays I did end up in the pool with a few kids but it wasnt too bad, though a couple of boys jumping in did almost land on me!
Swimming is one of the best exercises you can do for your body. You can also add a few yoga moves. Listen to some relaxation music to clear your mind of stress.
Swimming is great exercie Smow, doesn't strain the muscles but gives them a work out. - give it a couple of weeks and you'll notice the difference
