There was nothing wrong with yogurt pots and string!

I gave up having a contract years ago, and rarely put money on my PAYG. But I do feel safe knowing I can call 999 anywhere, anytime. I have a half hour walk to work each morning (although I swear I get back a lot quicker!), I work early hours of the morning, I feel safer with my phone on me.

I feel that life was less stressful without mobiles. I get work calls on it all the time, telling me "Sorry, I didn't want to call you at home". Even when I AM at home!
People in my street used to hand out the phone box number to their friend and family because they couldn't afford their own phones. When the pay phone rang it was exciting who it was going to be and who for.

Mobiles can always be turned off.

Never own a mobile and have no intention of getting one. My job is constantly pestering me to get one. I wouldn't.
