My wonderful mum died 4 years ago, the day before Mothers Day, aged just 59 from breast cancer, and so going round the shops today getting a card for myMIL was hard.

So just wanted to say to really appreciate your mum while you have her, as you nevr know whats around the corner....... xxx

Sad but true, fgt. My mum's twin won't even get a card off her daughter, but she was never a loving mother so she can hardly expect a doting daughter.
My mum died in 2005. I'm so glad that I can still see her and hear her voice and see her mannerisms in my mind. I hope that I never lose that. She was a very sharp lady, mentally, but with a huge dollop of naivety thrown in. She had a great sense of humour, was thoughtful and always strived to do good for others. Sadly, I wasn't present when she died, in hospital. My sister told me that just before her last breath, a tear rolled from each eye. Miss you mum. Happy Mothers Day.
My mum is still alive but my dad died 23 years ago when he was 59. Every fathers day we light a candle , buy a card and some flowers and put them next to his photo.

snow, it's not at all selfish - lots of us feel the same today x
As a 53 year old currently recovering from surgery following recurrence of my breast cancer, I can only repeat what Smowball says a hundred-fold. One of the up sides of having cancer is that you learn to appreciate the time you have all the more. This does not make it any easier for those around you while you are going through it, or in the worst case, after you have gone. Big hugs to you Smow. Your mum will always be with you in you. Make her proud! xx

Nope not been the best of weeks but then today sort of puts things into perspective. Especially reading Angells comment with what she is going through.
