I do beleive that this is my first posting in this section .

It does appear to be very heated in here at times - in fact one could almost do without the central heating being turned on .

It also appears that most of the ' discussions ' seem to be between those in one corner who beleive in a higher being who created the universe and those in the opposing corner who do not beleive in any higher being - but rather that the universe came into existence at the big bang - i.e before that there was nothing .

Is that about right ?

@ Olly - OK. At least old earth creationism avoids the huge problems that young earth creationists have, and can find itself in agreement with the science - which is what I have problems with.

You go on to explain that you think the Old Earth Creationism reinforces your belief that the Bible is infallible. Please explain what you mean by infallibility?
Do you believe, for example, that the bible is the literal word of god, written down verbatim and hence inerrant, or do you distinguish between inerrancy and infallibility?
@LG - you use the word 'literal' and when the Bible uses parable and allegory in order to be understood by people down the ages then obviously we shouldn't take everything literally but provided we use our common sense we will find the Bible is both inerrant and infallible. :-)
It cannot be both inerrant and infallible if it is regarded as parable an open to human interpretation. Thats having your cake and eating it.
//Thats having your cake and eating it. //

So what's wrong with that, LG? Isn't that how it works? ;o)
@LG - Are you saying you lack understanding? :-)
Olly, //When I first came on here and read the posts it was the atheists who were being judgemental. If you don't like it perhaps you ought to stop?//

I don’t think LG dislikes it - we welcome discussion here (as I’ve no doubt you are aware). However, it would appear that you need to study the posts a little more closely - including your own.

//People who murder aren't following the teaching of the Bible are they. They are acting more like people who don't believe the Bible, i.e. atheists.//
@naomi24 - Christianity is about not commiting crime.
0lly is toast...............
And forgiveness.
Olly, and neither is atheism.

Craft, yes, as I suspected. ;o)
@naomi24
Olly, and neither is atheism.

So why do it?
Olly, Why do what?
@Olly - I lack understanding of your posts, because they lack rigour and clarity :)
