I use my tried and tested local garage whose name I got from checkatrade.com for my area. I recommend them to everybody.
I use Sheltunes, I don't know if they are nation wide though.

They tend to be staffed by older people and don't have the policy of 'find as many things as wrong as can'

Unlike Vauxhall!!!
Surely you want to know everything that is wrong with your car?
I use a local independent garage, I find halfords overpriced.
Of course. But, Vauxhall invented faults.
Bazile, if there is a local famly run garage, I would call on them for your cars service, with the likes of BIG garages you will be helping to pay their high costs, get a quote in writting IF any work is to be done.
I use the main agent we bought the car from. Mrs McM had her bicycle serviced at Halfords and they were rubbish.
I use the main Ford dealer where I bought the car but my brother used Halfords & they were rubbish, it was fine before they got their hands on it but afterwards he had to keep taking it back & they got nastier & nastier,
Hi Bazile,

I have used them once or twice in the past and found them to be a bit expensive and fault finding, when i can almost guarantee the problem is not there, so i dont use Halfords at all now.

We have our cars MOT'ed annually at JUST MOTS, which gives you an unbiased opinion on your car, as no garage or gain to be made there....just the MOT and how the car is inspected

......We have check-ups and services from a great local mechanic, that is used by a few of us in our cul-de-sac and he gives a great service and can pick up cars from home, and return them same day, subject to parts if required etc of course, if need be.

You know your car is getting what it needs........talking of which spookily, Mrs Bears EML light came on and off weekend and his diagnostics check spells to a throttle position sensor...on order as a whole body unit, as comes with idle control valve attached, which may be at fault too....two days to come in from Honda via Belgium :0)
Had my company car serviced there on the instructions of the vehicle management company - not impressed. Vehicle was supposed to have wash and vac but the reception guy said they both broken down. Strange that because as I was driving away one of the mechanics had just finished hoovering his car and was preparing to jetwash it!
I use a local independent garage - when I used the local Citroen dealer they were expensive. You could check the "Good Garage" section in the Daily Telegraph's Honest John's website. (Google "Honest John")
