The Archbishop of Westminster has asked the Pope to strip Savile of his Papal Knighthood , which is pointless as it dies with his death but it could be removed from their rolls of Knights but what is the likelihood of the RC church of punishing anyone accused of sexual abuse.or any other abuse for that matter. ?

You seem tomistake (admitedly large amounts of) money raised for charity as an excuse for his behaviour or, at best, a reason to overlook some truly base and concerted molestation of young and vulernable girls. There can never be any excuse for that.

I have never intimated that any money should be returned methyl, nor do I see the point of depriving a charity of money just because one of it's progenitors is a filthy disgusting creature. Ill gotten money can still serve a greater good.

However, to fail to recognise what your old pal is would be to deny justice to many abused and vulnerable young girl.

I cannot believe that you are mkaing excuses for him, albeit it he is still, technically innocent but, for once, I am almost prepared to jump the gun.
Imagine for a moment that Jimmy Savile was innocent.

(But that's what imagination is for.)
Imagine, having already as good as admitted that you have severe reervations about his somewhat (allegedly) salacious behaviour, you then started to make excuses for him?

I do not think that a retrospective confiscation of donations raised would be the right thing to do, nor is it being considered. It represents some sort of temporal mitigation of the harm that SoVile appears to have done in life.

What does seem wrong though is for the honours accrued to remain. His knighthood has expired with his death apparently, but records still list him as a knight.

The same applies wrt his Papal Knighthood. It does not sit well that someone so predatory and so unconcerned about the harms visited on others should be honored in death by retaining the knighthood, and it is this unease which should be addressed. Why any organisation would hesitate over such an adjustment puzzles me. Given the negative publicity the Catholic Church has attracted over recent years, particularly around the area of child abuse and paedophilia, One would have thought they would have been glad to jump at the opportunity to show they are now at one with the majority public view.

Using arcane ritual to defend the status quo and to allow SoVile some sort of honour even in death seems the wrong route to take in my view.
