Just having a go at decorating some little paper mache boxes. I painted them first with an equal mixture of PVA and water then I've started to paint them. I'm using poster paint and just doing the inside first, I've done 2 coats but not happy with the finifh. Should I have used acrylic? (I'm decopatching the outside of the boxes - not so tricky, I think). Anyone done any decopatch?

Hi. Are you talking about decoupage? If not, decopatch is a new one on me
Mrs O - they're excellent, weaned me off DIY for good...

Definately decopatch.
Its a new one on me too. I do decoupage.
So whats Decopatch?
Is decopatch a new word for decoupage?. By the way, I'd use acrylic paints, much harder wearing than poster paints, plus a better finish.

I think you're right, rocky. Acryllics is probably the best. Thanks everybody, every bit of info helps.
Try model aircraft paint. You may get the finish and colour from a model shop.
"Decopatch is a modern version of decoupage: Decoupage works well on multiple surfaces i.e. ceramics, wood, earthenware, terracotta, glassware, paper, metal, candles and soap"

Decopatch sounds interesting, never heard of it before, but tried a Decoupage course some time ago ............
Had a look at the links you gave and it looks brilliant. Does anyone know how it would work on outdoor furniture. I have a terracotta topped cast iron patio table and chairs where the terracotta has chipped off with the frost and looks a real mess but I love the decorative backs to the chairs so want to keep them really.
