is it safe to have a room converted to open plan, including a fitted kitchen when there are young children in the home

I would be a little worried about cooking while young children around, what if they touch the hot oven or pull a pan from the hob? You cant have eyes everywhere.

yes of course- unless you intend to cook them?
well you'll need a cage to put the kids in but maybe you have one already?

Personally I detest homes which have integrated kitchens and living rooms. Unless you have a seperate utility room it must be marvellous watching the TV whilst the washing machine is going full throttle.................
Why wouldn't it be?
Why is the OP entitled 'Fitted Kitchens' ?
long before 'elf and safety raised it's head - many kitchens had an open fire - and mum cooked and did the washing while the littlies played at her feet - not with toys of course but with saucepans and anything else that could be found in the cupboards
