What is She Dressed As?

Rather a peculiar costume. Frontier woman? Annie Oakley? Although all the pictures I've found of Annie Oakley, she's in a dress. Any ideas please. I'll be along again later with some moe uniforms. I appreciate the help you give me, but I do try googling first! Thanks in advance.

I'd say that this is a studio portrait of their idea of a trapper, with the odd clothes taken from the studio's rack of costumes.

Those cartridge pouches look like the ones issued to hold Mauser bullets, that and the style of hat would suggest the Boers of South Africa, late 1800's.
