Zamora Californian Zinfadel is a rich and succulent red bursting with layer upon layer of ripe berries and oodles of jamminess. This is a sophisticated wine which can be drunk on its own or ideally partner with lamb in a rich red wine gravy. Zamora Zinfandel is available from M&S for the normal price of £9.99.

Bargain of the week has to be Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvignon. Yellow Tail wines are the number one imported wine label in the US and, as a long time fan, I am hardly surprised. This wine is smooth, rich and has all the depth you would expect from this is"old faithful" of the grape world. Drink on its own or pair with a rich ragu. Currently available in the Co-Op for £4.99. Hurry, it won't last.

It was probably a clearance line, JJ.

That sounds lovely, Heathfiled. Lindemans is a good label.

one is always told to let one's red wine breathe....

I am just not a beer drinker, Boxy.

I like a gin and slim or an after dinner liqueur but wine is my passion.
Like the new avatar, NoM.... I'm not really a wine drinker, the odd glass, but I can't drink red, it sets off my migraines. :-(
Question Author
Absolutely let it breathe. Ideally decent if it has been in the bottle 4 years or more. I like to pour a good 'splash' of wine into an oversized glass. I can't abide a glass of wine poured right up to the top of the glass.

Pouring a small amount into a big glass allows it to open up and the wine tastes immeasurably better.

Not complaining, but I find it pertinent that you have called me Sir Ale! I love a drop of Theakstons Old Perculier!

Lol. You should have read the original post this week. There were some completely random insertion thanks to my new phone. I'm still getting used to the key pad.
I would say medium or full bodied.

About £10 no more

A bit of both, I usually open wine to accompany food but quite often enjoy a glass on it's own. i tend to go for Italian & Australian wines, one of my favs is Willemo (sp) can buy it in sainsbury.
Should say to go with beef, chicken.

Thanks nomercy.
or maybe it's wollemi I just know what the bottle looks like lol You can tell i'm not an expert on wines :(

Hi puddle. You couldn't go far wrong with Asda's Extra Special Primitivo which is currently rolled back to lend£5.

Full and flavoursome and perfectly apt as a drinking wine.
Question Author
Please excuse the random nonsensical insertion in my last post.
NoM - got a heck of a stonker with the Manga del Bruya from Catalayud here - mix of Grenache, Shiraz, Tempranillo and a smidge of Mazuelo, Excellent, deep, full of berries and @c.£9 in my Experience shop in Truro.

Brilliantly good value
Question Author
Sounds gorgeous, DT. I don't think I am very well acquainted with Mazuelo. I always favoured Tempranillo.
I'll give it a try :)

Thanks
