Surely a MOWO would be racist would it not.

We cant have that.

Same as we cant have the "White gospel choir" or the "White police federation" and all the other ethnic organizations based on "colour".

I notice October is "Black History Month".

R&B, hip hop, soul, reggae, African, jazz, gospel are the categories.

There are plenty of awards for music of white origin already.

The Country Music Awards
The Scottish Music Awards
European Brass Band Championships
The Gramophone Classical Music Awards
The Irish Music Awards
The BBC Radio Folk Awards
and lots more.

So why don't they simply have:-

Music Of R&B Origin Awards

Music Of Hip-Hop Origin Awards

Music Of Soul Origin Awards

Music Of Reggae Origin Awards

Music Of African Origin Awards

Music Of Jazz Origin Awards

Music Of Gospel Origin Awards?



....instead of making it a colour thing?

If it excluded white people, or any race, it would be wrong. But it doesn't, it is open to all.

Probably because all those categories have their roots in music of Black origin. Black being used more to define ethnicity and geographic origin, and not so much colour.
