Can we get Wayne Rooney, Darren Bent and Ashley Young a lyric sheet next time our national anthem is played before an international?

He's a disgrace anyway ............. he should be proud to be chosen to play for his country. Although the National Anthem is a dirge, the players should be proud to sing it, its terribly rude to ignore it but then he isn't my cup of tea at all, can't stand him!
it would have to be in braille for some of our strikers
The whole thing is an anachronistic farce anyway!

God save the Queen, eh? Well, what if (like me) you don't believe in the former and utterly despise the institution of the latter, even if you have no particular antipathy towards the actual person?

I think I'd find it difficult to ask implore a being which doesn't exist to save an institution which I firmly believe should be abolished...
By gum mark i struggled with that
this is a bit more inspirational version of ourNational Anthem and ought to be used instead of the boring German tune - though Rooney probably thinks the Queen is a transvestite appearing on a pole in the Baby Platinum club on the aptly-named Princess Street.

Its the same with the Welsh national anthem. Hardly anyone playing football or rugby knows this knows this. i learned it in school, and still remember it. Its wonderful!!!! "

The Welsh anthem is, IMO, the best anthem in the world and although I am a passionate supporter of Ireland rugby, tomorrow morning the hairs will rise on the back of my **** when they sing it before the game.
Perhaps if England had an English anthem rather than the dirge that is GSTQ they might sing it more enthusiastically. Or, for the footballers, one with words of one syllable only :-)
God Save the Queen - isnt that words of one syllable....though I maybe mistaken -though they do use gracious, I accept.
"God Save the Queen - isnt that words of one syllable....though I maybe mistaken -though they do use gracious, I accept. "

And "victorious" and "glorious" - that's er, "whatever comes after 2" syllables
how about 1/2 syllables then

Gaw safe ow greycer Quee, Lon lif ur nob quee, go safe quee.

Personally I would prefer this version.....tothe Britten music

O Deus optime
Salvum nunc facito
Regem nostrum;
Sic laeta elizabetha
Comes et gloria
Salvum jam facito
Tu dominum
Noble, happy, over...
"O Deus optime
Salvum nunc facito
Regem nostrum;
Sic laeta elizabetha
Comes et gloria
Salvum jam facito
Tu dominum "

Aren't those the words Rooney sings already lol
-- answer removed --
probably ich, probably....and he sees red every time.
We aren't allowed to be proud of being English in England.
We leave the nationalism to lesser mortals ;-)
For being an atheist or an anti-monarchist...?
For a part of the spelling and grammar police.
Priceless!
where's my Mastercard?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with staying silent and pausing for reflection while gathering all your thoughts and energies for the match which is about to come . It does not mean that they are anti-monarchists etc .
"though Rooney probably thinks the Queen is a transvestite appearing on a pole etc etc etc ....... " Or he thinks she's a babe, after all he likes grannies doesn't he ?
