As previously mentioned I have an imac but would like to get an ipad to use downstairs. I have been reading about the new ipad3 supposedly due late 2011/2012. I am now reading that it may be aimed at high end users with certain needs and will be more expensive.

What I would like it for is reading, surfing the net and a few games, perhaps put a few photos on it and listen to itunes now and then. I understand that it does sometimes have a few problems with flickering or something on the outside of the page, although not an issue with every model.

My question is for my simple needs, is it worth waiting or should I get one now for what I need it for.

Thanks

So far iPad 3 features, specification and release date is all guesswork. Apple have announced nothing.
The iPad 2 will do everything you want to do so why pay the premium for the iPad 3 unless having the most recent incarnation is important.

Thanks all not sure I could have waited anyway having recently seen a demo. Off to get one very soon.
Get one now. The idea that there might be another one out soon with a better screen was based on competition from other tablets. But those have all flopped so Apple do not need to get the iPad out anytime soon. You could end up waiting until next May.

iPad 2 is superb. Buy now.

Thanks Gromit, not really heard a bad word against them, think I will get the cover as well which I believe shuts it off if not in use.
