Why don't/can't police use it to disperse rioters/looters?

Is it because our uber PC country is paranoid that with a faceful of CS the scum might not be able to see where they're going, trip up, injure themselves, and claim compensation?

Other countries authorities wouldn't take any sh1t and would be straight in with the CS

Yes it's because we are 'uber PC' in this country - so nothing major will get done sadly. They are showing Salford on TV just now and you should see the panic - dreadful ....
It's got nothing to do with 'uber PC'....If it had anything to do with PC then the police would not be allowed to CS individuals.

How effective do you think CS gas would be on crowds like that? What are they chances of police officers also being effected by it?

It's just not practical.
The police would have the proper protective gear on.

Water cannon would do the job too - but we wouldn't want the scum to get wet and catch cold now would we?
cs gas is a close-up weapon in the format thepolice currently use. i think you mean tear gas...
But those helmets can come off in scuffles...!!

And if you're talking about the riot police...are they expected to put their baton down while they get the CS can out...or are they expected to put their shield down?
Joe - I don't think we have any water cannons handy. When was the last time a water cannon used?
Not got the faintest idea how it works ummmm, I'm not in the police force.
So how do you know it's because we are 'uber PC'?
I mean how the police would make it work so they don't get hurt by the gas.
If we have any soldiers left here, not feeling too tired after Afghanistan and whatever Stan they've been in, Perhaps they could come out and bash the s**t out of these looter/rioters.
Well said gran
Everyone seems to have great ideas on how to tackle rioting etc... What are you going to do about it when the rioting stops? Will you be taking action with your local police or mp's? Will you sign up to the relevant websites and join groups and sign petitions? These are the actions of someone that wants to see change and of someone that wants action in the future not venting on a small website where no one can hear you.
