CLUES ONLY PLEASE

If you are doing the quiz you will undestand my questions - if not I will try to explain.

The answers are all films and the year and number of letters is given
Ther is a cryptic clue to PART of the title (not necssarily the first part of the title) Then there are pictures to give the other part of the title ie
22. Staff (8 3) 1976
Matched with a picture of a chocolate bar the answer is
'Marathon Man'

I am left with 4

20. Eliot (5) 1988
34. There you go, try this (4 9) 1972
43. The small guardian (5-6) 1967
54. Shameful (10 4) 1971

The pictures I am left with are
A picture of Morse
A cartoon camel
2 Flamingoes
A picture of the cat from the cat in the hat

Hope that I have been able to explain it

If as you say you try to play fair then wouldn't it have been fairer to ask for a clue on a clues only site of which you are a member, instead of an answer site where you were almost sure of someone providing the answer.
Didn't know there was a clues only site oddbody. Could you please give me a link. Sorry, it was my fault for not reading the clues only bit at the top of the question.

I had forgotten that I am a memebr of this site - thankyou for checking and reminding me - and like Jan1947 was not even aware that it was a clues only - so thank you again!
Question Author
Thank you for your help calibax
You cannot be a member of the site without being aware that its clues only,
Jan1957 wasn't aware of the site which is not quite the same thing. Your memory must be extremely poor as I had reason to contact you regarding something on the site not so very long ago.

I know the site as 'Fundraising Quizzes' and use it to send for new quizzes. I have never used it to ask for clues hence the fact that I did not know that it was a site for asking for clues - queries yes if someone is unsure if a question is correct ie number of lettes etc but not clues

Lets draw a line under this and move on - If I have offended anyone in my ignorance then I apologise unreservedly
granny - you clearly posted your question with integrity, particularly waiting to within 3 days of closing date. It seems by the supportive responses everyone is with you on this except for one odd body. AnswerBank is here to try and help - whatever your question; unfortunately like many sites we seem to harbour the occasional intimidating user.
Good luck in the quiz granny.

Thank you for that sir.prize - I must admit I was taken aback
Billy Elliot
Question Author
Thank you Brenden
Unfortunately Billy ElLiot was made in 2000 not 1988
Dont want to turn this into an argument it is best left now but believe me oddboddy isnt the only one who thinks like that. We read what oddboddy asked and stuck by it and granny grump asks enough to know that even if you ask for clues people ignore that and give answers
Hmmm. Weren't you once firmly on the other side of the fence, Smouse? I remember crossing swords with you.
I abhor exchanging answers on charity quizzes. said it before and will say it again. why enter for charity and tiny prizes just to cheat. I consider the only right answer is one i have found for myself.
Question Author
It's not often I'm right but I'm wrong again. I am upset at the suggestion that by asking for help I am somehow cheating. I joined what was once a vey friendly question and answer site to do just that ask and answer questions however it seems that that isn't acceptable. I use the Fundraising Quiz site and I send for virtually every quiz. Charity benefits and I enjoy it. Despite abiding by the quiz setters request I am in hot water.I have apologised I can do no more
Granny. Don't be upset. There is not a cheating issue here at all. The closing date is verynear and you asked for some clues. Ignore the unfounded criticism.

Here's a clue for you . . .
The film Green Eggs and Ham made in 1988 featured the cat in the hat (the picture clue). The story’s author was TS Geisel. I think the clue that you have (20. Eliot) is because of the similarity in first names initials. Google TS Giesel and you will have the full title of the film including the five-letter word beginning with ‘S’ which is the answer to the quiz. Good luck.

Thank you again sir.prize - over it now I don't stay upset for long
I see that in 2007 we discussed the HGSFA quiz when we both were looking for answers
I wasnt aware we had crossed swords but youre memory may be better than mind
as I have said before in those days people asked for the odd one and yes I am now happy to just have extra clues not answers
