Wine of the week!

My nomination for Wine of The Week is Quincey Oscar Brilliant, £9.39 in Morrisons. This Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire is fresh yet mighty on the palate with tropical and citrus fruit aromas and a lasting mineral flavour. Enjoy on its own or with fresh fish, pasta and tomato sauces or a selection of cheeses.

I tried the St. Emilion 2010 as recommended by CD and my first impression was... err... unmistakably French! However, the wine improved with each glass which only serves to illustrate that wines of that nature should ALWAYS be decanted. On the whole, a nice enough Red.

Any wine suggestions to share?

I love the AB Ed when he's doing his Geezer impressions
you mean geyser, right ?
I was thinking along the lines of You $&!!% cretins if you don't like my (^$$%?£ thread why don't you &*££)(** off you workshy scum
I just think this grumpiness about spending more than a couple of quid on a bottle of wine is nonsense!

For those of you who like a nice beer I also recommend this: http://www.thedrinksh...id=6781&afwinid=90909
well i partly agree ed, but sometimes i have such weeks that merit quantity over quality. having said that, the wine i mentioned is still rather nice. anything upwards of a fiver is reserved for special occasions or provate moments.
Yep. On those days though, doesn't a few beers serve better anyway?
A friend of mine bought round a bottle of this last night NoMercy, and very nice it was too. May have to get some myself while it is on special offer.

true, but i'm bound by marriage to share. and mrs kou don't like beer, although the odd blonde on the side goes down well sometimes.
jan, presume she kept the other bottle to herself, some friend!
Lol Ankou, I didn't think of that! She's coming round again this evening so we'll see if she brings the other bottle with her.

Jan - a very interesting choice. Gavi is bone dry and better paired with food. I've had one or two in Italian Restaurants and they do pair up nicely with seafood linguine and creamy italian cheeses. Pastafreak may know more about that wine than me!.
FYI: My fave "drinking" wine: http://www.cellartrac...wine.asp?iWine=309075

Sadly not been able to get hold of any for a while. Really, really fruity - and deadly more-ish.

That's interesting to know, Ed. I've never really branched out into Hungarian wine tasting, which is a little bit shameful really. I wouldn't mind betting that there are one or two hidden gems from Hungary!
I always look out for offers on Wolf Blass Australian Wines both Red and White which sell usually for about £9.99. They are excellent quality.
Question Author
Indeed they are, Redman. Bobjugs and I had a bottle of the Cabernet Sauvignon Silver Label (kindly supplied by his father). I find them intense in flavour, and yes, excellent quality!
ab ed, some helpful soul on a helpful website might be able to er ... help.

The Wolf Blass Riesling does not come on offer very often, but when it does I grab a Bottle or two
Question Author
Sounds like the perfect accompaniment to a nice selection of hot delicacies, Redman. I suddenly have a yearning for an Aussie Chardonnay or Riesling!
Question Author
Ankou - you may just have made the Ed's day!
