Does anyone know how easy it is to change the brake switch on a ford escort (2000) and is it something anyone could attempt?

Whats a brake switch. Do you mean a brake light switch?

Isn't it the same thing then? Basically all of my brake lights have gone at the same time and as I have checked the fuses and they are all ok I was told it was probably the brake switch. Am hoping to avoid the garage!
Depends on the car. I know some Fords had the switch fitted at the top end of the brake pedal. Hands and knees job to look at it.. May be just a wire come off. If it is a faulty switch of this type they are reasonably cheap and easy to replace.
yes it's easy yes it's at the top of the brake pedal bracket. the hard part is getting to the little sod.recline the drivers seat all the way down and slide it all the way back, lie on it so your head its in the footwell and take a torch with you, cos you'll need it...
