I was 5 minutes ago on the point of ordering a Humax Foxsat-HD Recorder for our new 40” Samsung TV which has built in preview and HD. We do not have a Sky dish and have no future intention of subscribing to Sky but my husband has now put doubts in my mind about the suitability of this particular purchase because of the name “Fox“ and the mention of a dish in the spec.

Therefore, is the above Recorder suitable for our needs? Glad of any advice here. Many thanks.

Freeview HD?
You need the Humax Freeview HD recorder .. not the Freesat recorder. Freesat will need a dish .. like or same as Sky.

Yes Scotman that's the one. I did think though that it was either FOX or PVR.
What is PVR? I'm sure I'll say "of course it is" when you tell me!

I'm understanding then that you are saying Albags that the Fox can only be used with a Sky dish? I have to say that I initially thought Fox was the better model. Good job I didn't go ahead and order then! Thankyou for the advice.
AlB has given all the info you need. The clue was the 'sat' bit of the description.
