I've just bought a new computer, everything's been updated apart from the broadband modem which was from my last one. The computer is fast but the internet ADSL connection is very slow - 2.3Mbps. I know i need a new broadband modem , but does anyone know of any that are really recommended and at a reasonable price

Well, what speed is your net connection meant to be exactly? I have a 2Mbps connection from Blueyonder and, depending where I test it, can get results ranging from 1.2 to 2.2 Mbps.

Most bandwidth calculating sites have high margins of error and inaccuracy, and the speed of your connection can be affected by numerous things. In fact, I sincerely doubt that any speed issues you are experiencing have anything to do with your broadband modem if it was working fine with your other system.

Upgrading your system won't increase the actual speed of your internet connection, although I imagine you already know that.

"... but the internet ADSL connection is very slow - 2.3Mbps"

I would suggest that 2Mbps is a lot quicker than speeds attained by the majority of UK internet users. My first modem ran at 14.4Kbps - now that is very slow.
