Had my last period in June (they have been patchy for ages now) and then in Aug started with the hot flushes, which lasted all of 6 weeks. Since then I feel pretty much like my old self. Have I escaped the menopause lightly? is there more to come? I am 46 and a type 1 diabetic, so I expected it slightly early. Just thought that it would be more of an event!?!

I started the menopause six years ago when I was 43. Had awful hot flushes for many weeks and palpitations. Periods were regular as clockwork. Bloods showed was menopausal. Over the years have had the odd flush now and again. In March had a period then nothing til Sept and Oct. Perhaps we're just lucky. Hope so
you might be lucky and it does vary....lets say that you are at one end of the normal scale IMO
I am going through an early(ish) menopause, i'm 42. I had hot flushes for a few months last year and early this year and then they stopped. They have now come back with a vengeance though in the last few weeks. Don't be surprised if yours come back too.

That is interesting ladies - I didn't know they could come back - no one tells you these things. My hormones have always been quite well behaved - wouldn't know what PMT was, or morning sickness etc, fingers crossed that I'm one of the lucky ones :o)
