Interesting question.

It has always been thought that it is an inflammatory bowel disorder that you develop due to an exaggerated immune response to the lining of your bowel.

However, it has recently been suggested that there is a large genetic component to Crohn.s Disease supported by recent studies.

So my answer is..........either or both..........born with it and can get it.

Thanks for that sqad. My daughter has suddenly developed some very uncomfortable symptoms and is going for one of those awful "investigations" next week. We thought it was Irritable Bowel Syndrome but her Doc said no.
What are you doing up so early on a Saturday morning?
OH's mum developed it in her sixties, never had any trouble before, so maybe it was lying dorment. His neice has just been diagnosed and she's in her 20s. Sounds like there may be a genetic trait, as sqad says.
