for over a year now, off and on, i've been getting this hindering pain on my heart. its like im being stabbed over and over with a needle, in the heart. i hurts very badly, and makes me lose my air, but then its over, and i can go back to normal. im not sure what the cause of this is, or what this is. any ideas?

hindering ?
A visit to the doctor perhaps?
i have something similar...i cannot get my breath but eventually kind of breathe it out...if i breathe in hard enough it sort of clicks out...it hurts but passes quicker.

i was told it was a piece of cartilege on my ribcage was moving about an trapping a nerve...annoying but nothing to worry about.
its because i have a misaligned ribcage and hypermobility i think

it may not be that for you though so see a doc
Sounds like a form of "stitch" to me, caused by lactic acid build up - there are ways of counteracting that.
Do you smoke ? that could be the cause of it.
Well, for sure, it has nothing to do with your heart.
I like joko´s explanation.
You need a Chest R-Ray for reassurance.
I've had some quite scary moments of " heart" pain, turned out to be similar to Joko.

I'm hypermobile as well, not sure if that is partly why but my ribs slip out of place sometimes (according to osteo who makes them behave again) and had a period of getting costochondritis (bits at the front of the ribcage getting inflamed).

Pain was horrible but nothing to do with my heart.

Best to get any heart pain checked out though!

anneasquith- the pain hinders me from doing anything.

and thank you all for your answers, no i do not smoke, and i dont plan on starting. I've also noticed that when i have this pain, my heart beat is not steady. it goes fast for a few beats, and then slows down. and then goes fast. and so on and so fourth. this is why i think its my heart that is the problem.
Please tell me you've been to the doctors and not just relied on medical information from a random website?
Question Author
im not relying on medical attention from any website..lol rest assured im a tad bit smarter then that.
sorry brown, never heard that word before.
Could be heart arrhythmia although I don`t know if you get pain with that. As mentioned, please go to your GP for proper tests.
