Raised BP and operations...........

I've been for my pre-op assessment and my BP results were high. Admittedly I haven't had it tested for 18 months, or so, but it's always been bang-on..........
I don't usually suffer with White-coat syndrome, but am willing to concede that it may have been a factor. I was also on day-5 of a course of anti-biotics for a UTI.
I now have to have have 3 separate tests at my GP surgery to see if my BP is high or if it was just a 'spike'.

As I'm due to have an operation within the next fortnight, if my BP persists in being on the 'high-side' will it have any impact on the surgeon's willingness to proceed with the op ?

Thank you for any insight.

jackthehat, same thing happened to me when i had my second hip op. it was only 10 months after the first one but my bp had shot up by the time of the pre op assessment for the second one. it was the surgeon who said it needed to come down before he'd consider operating. it was no problem as my gp immediately put me on bp meds which brought it down to an acceptable level for the op to go ahead and i've been on bp meds ever since.

JtH We used to get patients come in for day case ops with raised BP I used to get them to do a simple meditation exercise which involved visualising the colour blue... a pale sky blue works best not blue things just the colour... seemed to work quite well...and saying it was the relaxation isn't strictly the case as we used red to try and lift the borderline lows so we could discharge them...although getting the women to think about being stuck in a lift with george clooney worked most of the time too... might have to chose someone else for you if you end up with it too low.
