Morning all, my 17yr old son had 3 MRIs the other week to monitor his Monostotic fibro dysplasia. This week consultant said that his dysplasia is fairly static (:o)) but that the scans showed a small cyst in his neck. It looked to be in front of his spine, in the middle of his neck area (I've forgotten what the bit is called - cervical 7 possibly?). They are going to rescan him in 3 months.
Is this something to worry about? Is this something different to the monostotic thing?

Feeling down & worried today because he is having a flare up at the moment. Has anyone any experience of the teenage pain clinic in Bristol that he may be refered to? Thanks

I believe that you have posted before about your son and I do not know anything about the Bristol area.

Not very specific area that you have identified....it could be many things, almost all benign (non cancerous) and certainly unlikely to be due to his MFD.

Hi Sqad, you I right I have posted about junior's condition before (he towers over me at 6ft 3 now!)
Our local pain clinic said that they have a specialist teenage unit which they could refer us to. It is a long way - we are in Lancs, but obviously if it helps we will work out a way of getting there.
So this cyst is hopefully something that we would never have known about and would just have been there, but now the scan has high lighted it - it has to be monitored?
Thank you :o)
Exactly.
