What help is available for an 18 year old who is being diagnosed with this illness? Also is there a cure, a treatment and what is the outlook when he has his whole life to look forward to?

Any similar cases would help?

There is no cure for either negative or positive schizophrenia. They can be managed very well with the correct therapy and medication though.

I'm sure if the young person has a definite diagnosis their doctor will be exploring all options for treatment.

The outlook isn't brilliant, but also isn't all doom and gloom as long as the right medication is found and taken as prescribed.
I think the best cure advice you can give to someone close to someone with pyscosis is to remember 'when the person is at their best' and be positive, be there for them to talk though the cause of their anxiety and this will calm them, help clear their minds and bring them back to being themselves again. No matter what people say theres always hope.
