let your insurers deal with it, thats what you pay them for.
But private car park doesnt really mean anything if the public can gain access.
Could be knock for knock if neither of you were watching where you were going, but thats for insurers to decide
being in aprivate car park doesn't change anything insurance wise, let the insurer's sort it out.
Take everything into consideration, how much would it cost to have the other car repaired? What is the excess that you would have to pay under your Insurance? Do you loose any non claim bonus? Many Things to consider, as far as your own car goes, get a quote from a car repair garage, sometimes it pays to go down the road of you paying for the other persons damage, you just have to weigh all thing up.Good Luck. Also take into consideration that if you do not have protected non claim bonus your insurance premium will rise next year
from what you say, if they were parked and moved off into the path of a reversin vehicle then they are to blame...you would have had right of way really
Park at own risk signs are nothing to do with accidents that happen in the car park. They are to stop you suing the car park owners if your car is broken in to, damaged by a shopping trolley/car door opening on to your car etc or any other incident occuring whilst the car is parked up.
The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. The insurers tried to settle 'knock for knock' as we were both reversing, but I argued that as the other driver reversed from a parking space into my offside door surely it was entirely her fault.

Eventually the 3rd party's insurers sent me a cheque for my excess and paid my insurers for the repairs and the cost of my guaranteed hire car (not a garage supplied 1000 cc model) at £60 per day for the 2 weeks that the repairs took!

Whenever I now renew my insurance, I declare it as a Non Fault accident, with no known cost.

Do not say that you will pay for the repairs!
Having witness 2 of this typre of accident all I can say is drive very slowly in car parks especially when reversing and make sure that you are stationary when somebody reveres into you.
