Please don't all say this!! I live for my holiday, if I can't go in July I'll surely die. No jokes about plane crashes please.
i'll be honest, ive never heard of the place....
Well, other than Freddie Frinton (that's another old uns memory) it is really Frinton by the sea - Essex. I don't believe Judith Chalmers ever featured it on her tv programme either!
I think Freddy's dead so he won't complain ttfn.
Ok Buenchico, the chart was from the met office, but to me it looked like a pterodactyl kicking southern Ireland then shriveling up! Is that good news?
I think it was acute chipper's elbow got him in the end - if I remember his sketch correctly!
What a memory I can only vaugely remember what he looked like.
Twas the sketch with Eli Wood, FF was wearing full evening dress incl top hat and was talking about the perils of being a chip shop owner - hot fat in the eye made him squint, chippers elbow meant he walked with his hand on his hip and something else - I can't remember what - gave him a funny walk. He looked like a cross between quentin crisp and john inman after a bad night out! FF had not the prettiest of faces - rubbery lips and huge portmanteaus under his eyes. Usually had a ciggie pasted to his lip as well. But he couldn't corpse Eli Wood - who was one of the best stooges I ever saw. FF also did 'Dinner for one' a very famous sketch to all but the English - v popular inGermany. Other than that I can hardly remember him either!
Our holiday in April was also cancelled but it was rearranged for this coming Wednesday, fingers crossed. Fortunately we haven't lost any money, holiday, insurance and car parking were just transferred to later date.
fingers crossed for you flyingpig!
I do hope pigs can fly this Wednesday
lol @ ttfn
Thanks fot the memory ttfn Eli Wood was a gormless one if I remember right.
Off to bed now night night all.
Hmmm.

Slinky is seeing pterodactyls in Met Ofice charts. I hate to think what she'd make of Rorschach inkblot tests:

JB:
Frinton is a 'snooty' resort town, just down the road from Clacton. It used to advertise its High Street as 'the Bond Street of East Anglia', although the number of charity shops there these days rather spoils that image. However, up until a few years ago (when J D Wetherspoon won a lengthy planning battle) the residents managed to ensure that there were no pubs in the town. (Residents could enjoy a drink in a 'members only' club but out-of-town drinkers weren't wanted). It remains illegal to eat an ice cream on the beach or seafront in Frinton (because the locals don't like anything as 'common' as that).
I am always pleased to drag memories up from the bowels of the earth. Since I had a heart attack I have found that my memory is somewhat worse than it should be so I try to do quizzes and work at speed to keep my battery charged as it were. Have a good night's sleep gran and ttfn
didn't he have a show with thora hird? he always seemed to be in a dizzy mess, i think it used toi be on at saturday teatime when i was about 10.
That's right dot - another great comedy actress. My favourite was In loving memory with Christopher Beeney a formidable partnership despite the age gap
