Vertical Blinds will not open

We have bought and fitted a Vertical Venetian Blind the problem is that it will not part open vertically so as to let in a little light,The cord to open fully is different ,when we pull the cord to slightly open the blinds it sounds as if something has come of it's ratchet .

Any help please ,we are trying not to have to take it back to the supplier.

it sounds like it is too close to the window if any of the slats are touching anything none of them will open

also check that the cords are on properly ,if you take them back down pull the cords and see if they run freely ,hope you get it sorted
