I know that I'm posting this in the wrong Topic thread, but I might get more response from here.....perhaps!
Anyway,I thought I would like to share a couple of songs in honour of this particular day.

In Remembrance of those who perished.....

A beautiful, fitting piece dedicated to all those who died to save our country and secure our freedom.

and one of my favourite hymns I used to sing when I was in my church choir many moons ago...I still like it now.

Hi imhotep. That's one of my favourite hymns as well. Not that I was ever in a church choir, I can't sing.

Hi Imhotep,
Very nice ! . . . . I think everyone should give a little time to respect what others - (some no more than children really) gave for us.
Call me old-fashioned, but that's what I believe !

Awww, many many thanks for your wonderful comments folks!!
It's sad to hear how many lives were lost during both World Wars.....my mother gets very emotional about it.
Especially when she hears of young soldiers getting killed in Afghanistan.
It takes me something to get me crying, but when it comes down to young people getting killed I must admit,I do tend to shed a few tears....I cry even more when young children die.

Oh well,it's been a sad day for most people!! My grandfather fought in the first world war,and one of his comrades fell and died in the trench. My mum said that he never forgot that particular day.My mothers parents were a lovely couple, and I respected them highly. Her father was quite tall, and her mother was quite short, but they loved each other dearly. They lived in Manchester, and I remember going up there a few times to see them.
Oh,those were the happy days of my very young life then.

Anyway,I have to leave you all now I'm sorry to say.But I will be back sometime soon.
So,I will bid you all a fond farewell, and a peaceful goodnight!
Bye for now...
Sorry imho, I deserted you. Got distracted by FB. Helping someone out who had only just joined today. Hope to see you again soon. x
