It will be a week tomorrow since I had my beautiful golden Lab put to sleep. It has been an awful week. He is just everywhere. Nothing to greet me ,got to take the sunday paper from letter box myself .and the mail.Went in cupboard yesterday and found his other tarten rug he had on his bed. The hannes maccaw keeps shouting his name but I am hoping she might forget when she is not hearing it but once they pick things up I dont think they forget. Went today to get an enlargement picture done.Just had to have a little talk about him again.

awwwwww bless you wendilla it will ease with time my thoughts are with you x
We lost our cat yesterday evening. He just passed away gently, but am missing him already after 15 years of friendship.
I hope you are right (I'm sure you are) that it will get better as time passes, but at the moment our hearts are broken
The agony and joy of pets - the moment you start to form a relationship, there is pain at the end of it somewhere.

You summed it up yourself - it will get better, but you have to endure the grieving process first, and that is really hard, with no short cuts.

Come on any time for a chat about your lost pet, lots of sympathy on here from pet lovers.
We lost our precious choc lab on 21st May. She was really ill in the Royal Vet College and died in the night. She was only seven. I really know your pain.
Three weeks ago we rescued a five year old yellow bitch as a new companion for our nine year old blind lab. It has been a success and she has fitted in very well but only a couple of days ago I had a cry whilst walking in the woods with the dogs.
Time is healing us all but some days the pain is still awful.
Real friends will let you talk all you need about your boy.

Thank you so much for your replies. Sorry to hear about your cat X-RAY.Yes it does get better and I am with you .I lost my cat 2 years ago he was 14. I was heartbroken and I still feel tears when I talk of him and previous to that before I had my Lab I had to have my cairn terrier put to sleep he was 14. ANNIE bAR sorry about your loss too. I don't think I can bring myself to have another.I know I may be cruel in saying this as there are lots of dogs looking for good homes but I am getting on age wise and it would not be fair to the dog . Thanks Andy and zzxxee. My Lab was 13 and had been on tablets for his legs but he was getting worse really struggling and also beginning to have water problems. My Grandson bless him we told him that he had gone to look for Prince in Heaven that was my cat and then he said I wonder if he will find Molly too that was his cat that was run over. Thanks again all.
wendilla -- am so very sad for you, will think of you .Brenda.
Hi wendilla - it's the price we pay for having their wonderful companionship. I have two lovely cats now but I still miss all the others who've gone before. It's also lovely to be able to give an animal a good home. What would we be without them. Take care
you can offer a good home to another dog. You have experience of dogs needs and there are plenty desperate for your attention, they in turn, will devote themselves to you.

Take in another dog - its dependant on you.
So very sorry to hear of your loss. xxx
Sitting here reading this with tears in my eyes thinking about my lovely GSD that died 9 years ago this week. The pain does ease but you never forget and it just takes one thread like this and off you go again.

Thank you for your replies. Yes it don't take much to set the tears rolling again.
that's sad, Wendilla, I'm sorry.. and for everyone else who has lost a pet.. we all have at some time and it's a horrible time x
Awww Wendilla, I am so sorry about your pet. I too fear I have lost mine. My beautiful, mad, affectionate, idiot cat by the name of ASBO disappeared on 21 August. I wasn't too worried to start with cos he does this, but today I learned that a cat fitting his description was killed on a road near here 10 days ago. I am bereft. I don't know whether it was him or not, but deep down I am having to come to terms with that as a possibility. My other cat (Cuddles) who hated him with a passion has been particularly loving the last couple of days. I guess somehow she knows......
Shit sorry Wendilla. My heart went out to you when I read your post and then I completely forgot you given than ASBO is the forefront of my mind. My apologies and sincere sympathy. Bm x

So sorry to hear about your cat Barmaid. It is terrible not knowing what happened and not get a chance to say goodbye. Thank you for your relpy and Sarah thank you too. I went to my daughters yesteday while I was waiting on my car to have brakes done at mot and we sat in the garden just talking about all the past about the silly things he had done through his life like coming downstairs after being in her make up bag years ago and came down covered in lipstick. It helped to talk and it's the first time we managed to talk without breaking down but the tear was still there.
