Just a quick one:

my MOT expires tomorrow (18th Aug) and I have my car booked in for saturday morning.

can i drive my car in the meantime?

someone has advised that as long as it's booked in then i have an allowance of 14 days to be driving the car?

is this right?

thanks

No, there is no allowance.

You can have a car MOTd up to a month before the previous one expires and have the new one valid for 12 months after the expiry date. But once it expires it expires.

Only you can decide if you will take the risk by driving it.

You can only drive it to the MOT test place on the day that you have pre-booked the test. That is the only allowance.

No you can't drive your car but you can drive it on the MOT day direct to the garage for the MOT.

Why did you wait so long to get your car MOT'd? You could have done it up to 4 weeks earlier and the MOT would have been backdated.
It wouldn't have been backdated O'reilly, but the new MOT certificate would be valid for 13 months.
