Apart from having travel insurance what is the benifits of applying for the EHIC as well for going to Corfu. Thanks.

It basically means you get "free" health support (for things that are free in that country).

If you have NOT got a EHIC card you may well have to pay for your treatment, and try to claim it back off your travel insurance when you get home.

And if it is something that SHOULD have been free your insurance company will say you should have had an EHIC card so WONT refund you.

No not free - you get it at the same price as a local. If that means paying, you pay. If that means paying and claiming some or all back - so do you.

I did not say it was ALL free, I said you get things free that is free to the local.

You also pay for things the local pays for (at the local price)
and it may not be free either " reduced cost" or SOMETIMES free
